Bench Test

It is important to confirm that Cyclops is operational on the ground before executing test flights. In this section we will initialize the Cyclops system and confirm that the drone is in a flight-ready state prior to field testing.

At this stage of the integration process you have:

Before powering on

You must generate a map of your flight test area before flying with Cyclops on your UAV. Refer to Creating maps in the Vozilla documentation for details on this process.

Systems check

Before running a systems check, verify that all physical connections are solid. Power on your UAV and ensure that your camera and flight computer both boot properly. Connect your laptop to the flight computer over Ethernet. Open the Vozilla app on your laptop.

Verify data connections

In Vozilla, verify the camera connection is healthy by navigating to the Camera page. You can use the Live View window to confirm the camera is streaming and the image is not occluded.

Verify the MAVLink connection is functioning in the System Status tab of the Diagnostics panel on the home page. If you do not see an autopilot, check your wiring and baud rate. The default baud rate is 921600.

Select an active map

On the Maps page, ensure the map you are using for test flights is uploaded to the edge device and activated.

Update home point

Set the home position on the active map to the location where you will launch your UAV. Do this by dragging the marker or entering coordinates manually.

Restart Cyclops

Return to the home screen and restart Cyclops by clicking "Restart" on the Diagnostics panel.

Vozilla should now show Cyclops Running in the connection info tile.
